The Merryfellow Inn, Charlton Kings

One of the first pubs I ever photographed for a pub website, was The Merryfellow Inn in Charlton Kings Cheltenham back in 2011. Because I live in Gloucestershire, I have been albe to keep a photographic record of the pub for nearly a decade. The Merryfellow has changed hands quite a few times, and has had at least two major refurbishments to the interior of the pub. One thing that has remained the same is that it has always been a friendly pub.

2013

By this point, the pub sign had been replaced. The sign had a dent in it, from being hit by a tall vehicle. The Merryfellow is slightly difficult to photograph because of the narrow roads, and the close proximty to other buildings.

2015

Not too many changes to the exterior of the pub at this point, except the window boxes. In my opinion, this was when The Merryfellow was at it's most attractive.

2016

After several years with the same colour scheme and signage, The Merryfellow had a major refurbishment in 2015. The skittle alley was converted into a restaurant, this slightly reduced the size of the spacious beer garden. The pub sign was never replaced - possibly to avoid being hit by another vehicle!

2019

This is how The Merryfellow looked in 2019 It had another major refurbishment, the exterior colour seems a little harsh to me, but there is a nice touch with the etched windows displaying the name of the pub. The interior decor is modern.

August 11th 2023

The Merryfellow has entered a new chapter of it's existence. It had been closed for quite a few months, but has recently reopened as No.3 at The Merryfellow, a restaurant. The original No.3 was based at Royal Crescent in Cheltenham, but they relocated to The Merryfellow.
